Béla Bartók: For Children - selections

The sounds of the piano mingle with the steps of verbunkos dance from Szatmár, followed by a Transdanubian swineherd dance and jumping dance. Finally joined by Transdanubian folk music.

Béla Bartók: Sonatina

The piano piece is followed by melodies of Romanian folk music collected by Bartók from the following villages: Feresd, Vaskohmező, Váncsafalva, Alsórépa, Keménynagyszőlős.

Béla Bartók: Three Csíkmegye Folk Songs
First, with a folk flute as Bartók collected it, then the piano piece, followed by Csík melodies with percussive cello and violin.

Béla Bartók: Síppal, dobbal - From the piano cycle Szabadban. Allegro Barbaro

Kurtág György: Hommage á Mihály Halmágyi
Three pieces associated with the folk music and folk dances of Gyimes.

György Ligeti: Ballad and dance
A violin duo followed by folk music and dance from Méhkerék. The dance section of classical piece is quite similar to a Romanian melody of Méhkerék and its pulse is also analogous.

The orchestra presents classical and folk music through the pieces and collections of Bartók, Ligeti and Kurtág highlighting the parallels between the two genres. Besides her piano studies and teaching the piano Viktória Visnyai plays the folk violin and folk dance is a part of her life. She arranged her experiences as an orchestral piece with dances.
