None of the three German composers spoiled viola da gamba players with a high volume of pieces written for the instrument. What's more, the repertoire that includes their work has shifted mostly to other arrangements and instrument families. That is why it is very important that Sándor Szászvárosi and his colleagues focus on the rarely-heard works in this program. Three sonatas of distinct character by very different composers written in different forms of composition. Johann Sebastian Bach's masterpiece of an era, his obligatory harpsichord sonata; Telemann's Italian-styled sonata of the Baroque, and Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach's classicist yet galant sonata.

In the second part of the concert, the audience can hear the music of the era of the Sun King. Naturally, the program will include suites by the most famous gamba player and composer of all time, Marin Marais, as well as the master, Sainte-Colombe, the composer well-known from the movie Tous les matins du monde, and the most virtuosic player of the time, Forqueray.
