If I were to ask the “man in the street” in 3020, can you say a band from the 20th century, he would probably just say The Beatles. John Lennon founded the world’s first and perhaps best-known rock band, subverted popular music in 10 years, then was posessed by love and with dogged resolve turned his back on everything and continued to create alongside Yoko Ono for another 10 years until his senseless murder. The latter period is remarkable, but The Beatles oeuvre is undoubtedly perfect! On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of his birth, the 40th anniversary of his death, and the 50th anniversary of the break-up of The Beatles, we selected a healthy mix of John Lennon's songs.
