Piano Four Hands

Róza Radnóti and Fülöp Ránki

Opening speech: Milán Bolla

Liszt: Orpheus - arrangement for piano four hands, S. 592
Schubert: Overture in G minor, D. 668
Grieg: In Autumn, Op. 11
Schubert: Eight Variations on a French Song, D. 624
Liszt: Festklänge (Festive Sounds) - arrangement for piano four hands, S. 595

This is the first time these two extremely talented young artists perform at the Társaskör. One of them is a concert organizer, since Róza Radnóti founded the Chamber Circle at the Academy of Music with her old friends, former pianist students of the Pál Járdányi Music School, and she also organizes their concerts. In addition to her diverse interests (film, fine arts, and dance), Róza Radnóti has been an award winner at many national and international piano competitions.

Fülöp Ránki earned his Master's degree at the Music Academy in 2018. He studied at the Pál Járdányi Music School in the 2nd district, then continued his studies at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy under the guidance of Jenő Jandó, István Lantos and Rita Wagner. He regularly gives concerts in Hungary's most important concert halls, and has performed at numerous prestigious European concert venues as well as at Japanese piano festivals. He regularly gives three-piano concerts with his parents Edit Klukon and Dezső Ránki. According to the ars poetica of the Junior Prima Prize winner, listening to music is about leaving the concert with a cleaner soul, which requires an open mind and an absence of prejudice.

Young artists chose pieces by Schubert, who started the golden age of the piano four-hand genre, and by Grieg and Ferenc Liszt who often wrote four hand arrangements. In the 19th century, in the absence of the ability to record music, orchestral works were regularly arranged as piano four hands, so that they could be played at home. The Concert Hall of the Társaskör is an ideal venue for a four hand concert. Not too big, not too small - just right.
