An Exhibition by Viktória Balogh

The exhibition is based on various traditions - Sokac, Serbian and Swabian - which the artist presents and connects with each other through stories collected in her own environment. Old photographs and videos, objects and sound recordings all evoke family-defining customs that create a context where the values of a family, the basic unit of rural culture, are revealed: loyalty, unity, faith, and respect.

Moving away from actual stories - in the projected video and the photographs - Balogh expands on the concepts through the symbol of rosemary (loyalty, feminine purity, unity). She seeks to find out how traditions can be passed on over time, how they get modified and stacked during the process, and how they affect individual destinies.
