This year we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Japanese-Hungarian diplomatic relations.

A lot of people celebrate the 2019 anniversary year in several different ways. The chamber music concert we organize promises a musical delicacy that builds on the musical and friendly relationships between the two peoples - matching the ideological climate outlined by cultural diplomacy.

The evening will see performances by Hungarian and Japanese performers who are in some way connected to the other country and who, notably, maintain friendly relationships.

All the Japanese performers have studied, or are still studying in Hungary at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy and the Hungarian artists are regular and recurring guest musicians in Japan.

In Japanese-Hungarian music relations, it is very important for the Hungarian music loving and understanding audience to get acquainted with the works of contemporary composers who play a significant role in Japanese music. This concert features works by world-renowned Japanese composers Nakada Yoshinao, Nobunaga Takatomi and Toro Takemitsu.

It is extremely interesting and unique that Japanese classical music has reached the world standard of contemporary composition in a fraction of the time compared to European music history and has become a part of the contemporary music culture of the world in a short time, which makes it a good fit for classical composers (Liszt, Brahms, Haydn, Weiner).
