Artistic director: Péter Boldoghy Kummert
Conductor: Róbert Farkas
Hear the work concluding the life of a 26-year-old young man, the most popular church composition of the 18th century, Pergolesi's piece on Great Thursday.
The dirge of Stabat Mater, which is about the pain of the Virgin Mary at the cross, is one of the best known medieval songs:
Stabat Mater dolorosa
Iuxta crucem lacrimosa
Dum pendebat Fílius
The grieving Mother stood
weeping beside the cross
where her Son was hanging
We can hear the work in the performance of excellent young soloists and musicians. As the best Hungarian Zsuzsanna Ádám won second place at the III. International Éva Marton Singing Competition.
Róbert Farkas, a conductor living in Berlin, was introduced to the wider audience at the 2017 Conductor Competition of Duna Television, but he was also a guest at Óbudai Társaskör. He works as an assistant to conductor Iván Fischer at the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra and at the Budapest Festival Orchestra. The Budapest Chamber Orchestra is a group of orchestral artists from the Opera House.
