Mussorgsky: Pictures of an Exhibition

The concert program reveals the versatility of the somewhat forgotten wind quintet genre, through arrangements of orchestral works that have become "hits" of classical music over the past decades. Besides classic and romantic pieces the program also features an arrangement of Mussorgsky's Pictures of an exhibition, which is rightly regarded as one of the showcase pieces of 20th-century program music.

Budapest Wind Quintet was founded in 2017 by former students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. One of their main aspirations is to revive the genre that was so popular in Hungary for decades, as well as to draw the attention of the young composer generation and the audience to the potential and diversity of wind instruments. The members of the ensemble are artists of the country's leading orchestras (National Philharmonic, Hungarian State Opera, MR Symphony Orchestra) and active as chamber musicians and soloists on the Hungarian musical scene. They gave their first concert in the Marble Hall of the Hungarian Radio in February 2017.
