Liederkreis, op. 39 - song cycle

We can hear the atmosphere of former London salons with some of the songs from the English Canzonettas that the concert opens with. These are perhaps some the most famous of Haydn's songs, yet they are relatively rarely heard today in concerts. Schubert and Liszt's works lead us to Schumann's song cycle, which the composer called his most romantic work in his letter to his wife Clara before their marriage.

Katalin Szutrély was born in Budapest, studying at the faculty of conducting and vocal teacher training of the Academy of Music in Budapest. In 2012, she obtained a doctorate degree (DLA) as choir leader. She studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Szeged, where she studied with Valéria Berdál, then studied in London with Vera Rózsa and in Germany with Anna Reynolds. Currently, she works with Éva Lax. She is a devotee of song literature. In addition to singing songs, she is also a participant of orchestral and concert performances as a soloist of the Purcell Choir.

Andrea Fülöp received her piano teacher diploma at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Debrecen. A much sought after accompanist of famous soloists, she teaches piano at the Annie Fischer Music School.
