Tangos in orchestral arrangements
"It is an understatement to say that the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra sounds like a harmonious living organism. They breathe in unison." says a critic of the band that turns fifty-five this year.
In over fifty years, they played in world-famous concert halls in over fifty countries, as well as their home Óbudai Társaskör. Summer concerts have a particularly pleasant atmosphere in the garden. The orchestra's colorful July program starts with Nino Rota's orchestral work, which could easily be the score of a Fellini film. In particular, the Scherzo movement invites listeners to picture their own short film.
Then it's time for the orchestra's soloists to introduce themselves. We can continue dreaming with the beautiful and emotional opening tunes of the viola fantasy, then the cello comes to the fore in Couperin's piece.
The second part takes us to South America. The Four Seasons in Buenos Aires by the Argentine composer, accordionist and band leader Piazzolla is slowly becoming as popular as Vivaldi's evergreen piece. The closing tangos mark a colorful section in the orchestra's repertoire.
